Saving Grace
I’m not as quick as I was, but I get by
What else can you do but lay down and die?
The world keeps on moving, it don’t ever rest
I tell myself wouldn’t it be nice
If for a change I was life’s guest
The life of the heart is a terrible thing
It can break you in two or cause you to sing
Spend your life chasing rainbows or love’s saving grace
Catch yourself watch the passing years
Mark the time in the cells of your face
Never could keep a secret, never had a life of my own
Always did what came natural, spent too much time alone
I’ve been blessed with a life to live, don’t want to piss it away
Like a star makes a million bucks
End up lonely and broke, ain’t it a shame?
